The government has appointed Shahina Ferdousi as the new Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education. The decision was announced on Wednesday in a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration.
Ms Ferdousi is now serving as Executive Director of the Bangladesh Dairy Development Board. She had also been under transfer orders to become an Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Textiles and Jute.
In a separate notification, former Director General Abu Noor Md. Shamsuzzaman was attached to the Ministry of Public Administration as an Additional Secretary.
The Directorate of Primary Education oversees Bangladesh’s primary schools and key education programmes. The leadership change is important as the agency manages teaching standards, school operations, and major policy work across the country.
Further administrative steps are expected after the latest appointment orders take effect.
