Bangladesh plans to hold the SSC Exam 2027 in December this year, Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. Ehsanul Haque Milon said on Saturday.
He shared the update with journalists after a meeting at the Secretariat on the transfer policy for teachers and employees of MPO-enlisted educational institutions.
The minister said the step is part of a wider plan to remove the session backlog across the country’s education system. Session backlog means delays in classes, exams, and admissions that affect students’ progress.
If the plan goes ahead, the Secondary School Certificate and equivalent exams would be brought forward by at least four months from the usual schedule.
Dr. Milon said the education calendar had been disrupted in recent years due to the post-corona period and the political situation. He said the government now wants to bring back the normal rhythm of studies and examinations.
“We want to complete the 2027 SSC examination in December of this year,” he said.
The minister also said the Higher Secondary Certificate, or HSC, examinations would be advanced for the same reason.
However, he did not give a date for the HSC exams. The decision matters to many students and families because exam delays can affect college admissions, university plans, and job preparation. A stable calendar also helps schools complete lessons on time.
Officials are expected to announce detailed schedules and instructions later if the plan is approved and implemented.
