The fifth day of the 2026 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent exams took place across Bangladesh on Thursday, April 30. The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) exam was held under the General Education Board from 10:00 AM.
At the same time, students under the Madrasa Education Board sat for Bangla First Paper. Technical (Vocational) candidates took the Religion and Moral Education-2 exam. Authorities said the exams were held in a controlled and peaceful environment.
This year’s SSC exams began on April 21 with Bangla First Paper. On that day, reports emerged that some centres used question papers from an old syllabus. This raised concern among education officials and led to tighter monitoring.
The Dhaka Education Board has since issued urgent instructions to all centres. In a notice signed by Controller of Examinations Professor S M Kamal Uddin Haider, officials were told to check question paper codes carefully. They must confirm the correct syllabus before giving papers to students.
The board said two syllabuses are in use this year. Regular candidates from the 2024–2025 session are taking exams under the 2026 syllabus. Irregular and improvement candidates from earlier sessions are following the 2025 syllabus. Officials were warned to avoid any mistakes in this process.
More than 1.857 million students are taking part in this year’s exams. This number is lower than last year’s 1.936 million. The exams are being held at 3,885 centres nationwide.
Education data shows nearly 450,000 registered students are not sitting for the exams this year. The written exams are scheduled to continue until May 20.
