Two people have been arrested for spreading rumours about the SSC 2026 question paper leaks in Dhaka. The arrests were made by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Thursday morning.
The suspects are Tausif Rahman Risad and Sajedul Islam Saif. RAB said both admitted their role during initial questioning. Officials also found evidence of the activities on their mobile phones.
Additional Superintendent of Police Sonali Sen shared the details at the Jatrabari Camp of RAB-10. She said the two had created Telegram groups named “Backman Wild” and “Backman” about six months ago. They used these groups to spread false information about leaked exam questions.
RAB said the suspects targeted students and guardians through Facebook and other online platforms. They shared fake question papers and asked for money. After receiving payments, they blocked the victims’ contact numbers.

Legal action has been taken against the two at a local police station. RAB said efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest others linked to the group.
Earlier, on 23 April, RAB arrested four people in Ashulia in a related operation. Officials said that the group was also involved in spreading false claims about question paper leaks. The aim was to disrupt the exam process and gain illegal profits.
The Education Board has already warned the public about such rumours. It urged students and guardians to remain alert and avoid sharing unverified information.
RAB said these activities harm trust in the education system and create stress for students. It asked the public to report any suspicious posts or claims about question leaks.
