The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations will hold religion subject tests on Thursday, May 7, across Bangladesh. The exams will cover Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christianity. All tests will start at 10:00 AM and end at 1:00 PM.
According to the official routine, candidates must enter exam centres at least 30 minutes before the start time. Authorities will distribute OMR answer sheets before 10:00 AM. The multiple-choice questions (MCQ) section will run from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM. The written part will then continue from 10:30 AM until 1:00 PM.
This year, a total of 1,857,344 candidates registered under 11 education boards. Among them, 1,418,398 students are from nine general education boards. The Madrasa Education Board has 304,286 candidates, while the Technical Education Board has 134,660 candidates.
The data shows nearly equal participation between male and female students. There are 930,305 male candidates and 927,039 female candidates sitting for the exams this year.
The Dhaka Education Board has the highest number of candidates. A total of 366,650 students will take part under this board. Among them, 169,939 are male, and 196,711 are female. The board is managing 510 exam centres and 3,441 institutions.
In contrast, the Sylhet Education Board has the lowest number of candidates. It has 89,421 registered students, including 35,530 males and 53,891 females. The board operates 225 centres and 973 institutions.
Other boards also show significant participation. The Rajshahi Education Board has 177,709 candidates, while the Comilla Education Board has 146,817 candidates. These figures reflect steady student turnout across regions.
Officials reported that 25,408 candidates were absent on the first day of the exams. For the Bangla First Paper under general boards, 1,134,853 students registered. Of them, 1,122,963 attended, while 11,890 were absent.
The SSC exams are a key public examination in Bangladesh. They play an important role in student progression to higher secondary education.
Authorities have urged students to follow all instructions and maintain discipline during the exams. The examination schedule will continue as planned in the coming days.
