The SSC Geography and Environment exam for the Humanities Group was held across Bangladesh on Monday morning, without any break after Sunday’s History exam.
The examination started at 10:00 am and will continue until 1:00 pm. At the time of reporting, the 30-mark multiple-choice section had already ended, while the written section was ongoing.
Under the written part, students must answer five creative questions worth 50 marks and 10 short questions carrying 20 marks.
According to the SSC routine, the Geography exam was scheduled immediately after the History exam held yesterday. Many students faced pressure to prepare within a short time. Humanities Group candidates are also set to take another examination tomorrow.
This year, 1,857,344 students registered for the SSC and equivalent examinations across the country.
Among them, 1,418,398 candidates are appearing under the country’s nine general education boards. The Madrasa Education Board has 304,286 registered candidates, while the Technical Education Board has 134,660 students.
Official figures show that male and female participation remains almost equal this year. A total of 930,305 male students and 927,039 female students are taking part in the examinations nationwide.
The Dhaka Education Board has the highest number of candidates among all education boards this year. A total of 366,650 students are appearing under the board. Among them, 169,939 are male students, and 196,711 are female students.
The board is conducting examinations through 510 centres and 3,441 educational institutions.
The ongoing SSC examinations will continue as scheduled under the national routine in the coming days.
