New Curriculum in 2028

Bangladesh will introduce a new curriculum at the primary and secondary levels from 2028. Education and Primary and Mass Education Adviser A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon and Adviser Mahdi Amin made the announcement. They spoke at a press conference at the Secretariat in Dhaka on Monday, 8 June.

Officials said the education reform will be introduced in phases. Before the full curriculum change in 2028, four new textbooks will be added in the next academic year. These books will be for Grade 4 and Grade 6 students.

According to the plan, “Sports and Culture” will be added for Grade 4 students. For Grade 6, students will study “Technical and Vocational Education” and “Learning with Happiness.” Officials said these subjects aim to improve skills and values among students.

The Education Minister also said that the SSC Result 2026 will be published on July 20.

Mahdi Amin said the curriculum work includes revisions, additions, and removals. He said the goal is to restructure the education system step by step. He also mentioned that teacher training will be included under the “Learning with Happiness” subject. A focus on a third language will also be added in the curriculum.

He added that the full transformation will take time. He said the government has already started the process and is working with experts.

Education Adviser A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon said a complete curriculum change cannot happen within three months. He said revisions are already being made, and four new books will be introduced first. He added that the full updated curriculum will be visible in 2028.

The changes will affect students in primary and secondary schools across Bangladesh. The new subjects aim to improve practical skills, cultural knowledge, and classroom learning methods. The gradual rollout suggests a phased reform approach in the education sector.

Officials said the revised textbooks will be introduced next academic year, while further curriculum updates will continue ahead of 2028.
