Election Result 2026 Live: Voting in Bangladesh’s 13th National Parliamentary Election and a nationwide referendum ended at 4:30 p.m. on 12 February. Polling began at 7:30 a.m. across the country. Attention has now shifted to vote counting and the timing of the official results.

According to the Election Commission, there are 42,779 polling centres nationwide. Of these, 21,273 are general centres and 21,506 are classified as important centres. Each centre usually serves between 10,000 and 15,000 voters, although some have fewer.

This year’s vote includes both a parliamentary election and a referendum. Election officials said this is the first time the two have been held together. As a result, counting is expected to take longer than in previous elections.

In past national polls, voters cast only one ballot. This time, voters cast two ballots — one for the parliamentary seat and one for the referendum. Officials said that counting 5,000 to 10,000 votes previously took about three to four hours. This year, counting the same number may take five to six hours. However, they said the counting process at individual centres should not take longer than that.

Election Commission sources said unofficial results from some centres may start coming in after 10:00 p.m. A large portion of centre-based results is expected between 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m.

However, officials cautioned that publishing the full and final results may take more time. Election Commissioner Md. Anwarul Islam Sarkar said the commission hopes to announce the results as soon as possible after counting ends. “We are hoping that the results may be announced in the first half of the day on the 13th,” he said.

Election Commission Secretariat Secretary Akhtar Ahmed also expressed confidence about the timeline. He said counting is expected to be completed by 10:00 a.m. on Friday. “There is no reason for the results to be delayed,” he added.

The Election Commission is expected to provide updates as counting progresses, with a formal announcement planned once the nationwide results are compiled.
