Comilla Board Suspends 13 Colleges After HSC Results

Teaching activities at 13 colleges under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Comilla, have been temporarily suspended after extremely poor results in the 2025 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination.

The decision was confirmed on Thursday by board officials. A letter signed by Professor Runa Nasrin, Controller of Examinations, announced the action.

According to the board, several institutions recorded pass rates between zero and five percent. The board described these results as highly unsatisfactory.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the examination committee on January 7. The meeting was chaired by board chairman Professor Md. Samsul Islam. The committee decided to suspend Class XI teaching and the academic recognition of the institutions.

The affected institutions are located across the districts of Brahmanbaria, Lakshmipur, Cumilla, and Chandpur.

The institutions are:

Professor Md. Nurunnabi Alam, College Inspector of the Comilla board, said the institutions had a long record of poor results. He said the board had issued warnings earlier but saw little improvement.

He added that the action was meant to set an example for other institutions. “We will take action against institutions that continue to show poor academic performance,” he said.

Board chairman Professor Md. Samsul Islam said the suspension is temporary. He explained that the colleges can resume academic activities if they meet the board’s conditions.

Education officials said the institutions must improve teaching standards and meet operational requirements before recognition is restored.
