Reason Behind the Postponement of the Exam

The Science Unit admission test was postponed to show respect and honor during a period of national mourning. Sharif Osman Hadi, a former student of the University of Dhaka, passed away on Thursday night, December 18.

He was the convener of Inqilab Manch and was receiving medical treatment in Singapore at the time of his death. His passing deeply affected many people across the country.

Later that night, the Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, announced state mourning for Saturday, December 20. Because of this announcement, holding a major public exam on that day was considered inappropriate.

Respect for July Fighters and Martyrs

The decision to postpone the exam was also taken to honor the July fighters and martyrs who took part in the mass uprising of 2024. The university authorities stated that it was important to show respect during this sensitive time.

As Sharif Osman Hadi was a former DU student, the university felt a moral responsibility to delay the exam. This step was appreciated by many students and guardians.
