Election Watch BD Showing Wrong Results, Here’s how to check official data

The Election Commission (EC) has blocked access to a website that was displaying incorrect election results in Bangladesh. The site, known as Election Watch BD, showed misleading information after the 13th National Parliamentary Election and a referendum were held on Thursday.

Voting took place from 7:30am to 4:30pm across the country on 12 February. After the vote, the EC found that the website was publishing wrong results. Officials said this created confusion among voters. As a result, access to the site has been prohibited.

To ensure fast and accurate updates, the EC has launched a new mobile application called “Smart Election Management BD.” The app will provide official results directly to the public.

The application is available for both Android and iOS users. People can view general election results without logging in. However, users must log in to see personal voter details or electronic voting machine (EVM) data.

To log in, users need to enter their voter ID or national identity card number. After logging in, they can check their voter status, voting records, and polling centre details.

From the home screen, users can select the type of election and choose their district or ward. They need to tap on the “Election Results” or “Voting Results” option. Once vote counting is completed at each polling centre, officials will upload the results directly to the app. The public will then be able to view the updated figures.

The EC said the move aims to prevent confusion and ensure that citizens receive verified information. Accurate result reporting is important during national elections, as false data can mislead voters and affect public trust.

The 13th parliamentary election and the referendum are significant national events. Millions of voters took part across Bangladesh. The EC is responsible for managing the voting process and publishing official results.

Officials have advised citizens to rely only on verified platforms for election updates. The Commission will continue to publish results through its official channels as counting progresses.
