BNP candidate and Kaliakair Municipality Mayor Mujibur Rahman has won the Gazipur-1 seat in the National Parliament election. He secured victory by a margin of 59,912 votes over his closest rival.
Voting began in the morning and continued in a peaceful atmosphere. Officials reported satisfactory voter turnout at centres across the constituency. After polling ended, counting started at the centres. Results were announced gradually as counting progressed.
The final results confirmed Mujibur Rahman’s clear lead. Election officials declared him the winner after completing the count.
Following the announcement, his supporters brought out victory processions in different parts of Gazipur-1. Celebrations were held in several areas of the constituency.
Reacting to the Gazipur 1 Election Result, Mujibur Rahman said the victory belonged to the people. “This victory is the victory of people from all walks of life in the Gazipur-1 constituency,” he said. “Today’s result reflects long-standing expectations and love. I want to work for the development of the area and the welfare of the people with the cooperation of everyone, regardless of party affiliation.”
He also thanked those involved in organising what he described as a fair and peaceful election.

Local political analysts said the result may change the political balance in Gazipur-1 after many years. They believe the large margin shows strong voter support in the constituency.
