Honor has officially launched its new foldable smartphone, the Honor Magic V6, in China. The device features a large 7,150mAh battery, a thin folding design, and a new flagship processor. Pre-sales have opened in China, while full sales will begin on March 13.
The Magic V6 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. The phone comes with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. Honor says the processor supports smooth gaming, fast app loading, and improved power efficiency.
Prices start at 8,999 yuan, about $1,250, for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version. The 12GB + 512GB model costs 9,999 yuan. A 16GB + 512GB variant is priced at 10,999 yuan, while the top 16GB + 1TB version costs 11,999 yuan.
The Magic V6 focuses heavily on durability and screen quality. Honor says the outer display uses a coating made from 5,600 layers of silicon nitride. According to the company, this improves wear resistance by three times compared with earlier designs.
During the launch event, the company showed the screen resisting pressure from a power drill. Honor claims the display can remain reliable for up to 36 months without a protective case.
The inner foldable display measures 7.95 inches and uses BOE OLED technology. It can reach up to 5,000 nits of peak brightness. The cover screen measures 6.52 inches and can reach up to 6,000 nits of brightness.
Both displays support a refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz and 4,320Hz PWM dimming. This dimming system reduces screen flicker and helps protect users’ eyes during long viewing sessions.
Honor says the new foldable design also reduces the visible crease. The company claims the crease is 44 percent less visible than the previous generation. The display structure includes protective UTG glass and a carbon fiber support layer.
The Magic V6 also introduces a new shield steel hinge. Honor says the hinge has a strength rating of 2,800 megapascals. According to the company, this is stronger than the A-pillar used in many cars.
Despite the stronger structure, the phone remains thin and light. It measures about 8.75mm when folded and around 4mm when unfolded. The device weighs about 219 grams.
Battery capacity is another key feature. The Chinese version of the device includes a 7,150mAh silicon-carbon battery. Honor says the battery has an energy density of 985Wh/L, which it describes as a record for foldable phones.
The phone supports 80W wired charging and 66W wireless charging. Honor also offers another version with a slightly smaller 6,850mAh battery.
On the camera side, the Magic V6 includes a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 64-megapixel telephoto camera. The telephoto camera supports CIPA 6.5 level stabilisation for clearer zoom photos. The device also includes 20-megapixel front cameras on both the cover and inner displays.
The foldable runs Android 16 with MagicOS 10. Honor has added several artificial intelligence tools, including AI document editing, translation in 14 languages, and real-time screen translation.
The device also includes satellite SMS support through China’s BeiDou system. It supports 25 different 5G bands and can work in more than 200 regions.
Honor has also added features designed for Apple device users. These include access to iCloud Photo Library, wireless Mac display extension, and quick file transfer to a Mac.
The Magic V6 will initially be sold in China in four colours: Red, Gold, White, and Black. International availability has not yet been announced.
