The first fast of Ramadan 2026 began on February 19 in Bangladesh. According to the Ramadan calendar published by the Islamic Foundation of Bangladesh, the iftar time in Dhaka on the first day was 5:58 PM.
The foundation has also confirmed that the second fast will be observed on February 20. On that day, the last time for Sehri in Dhaka is 5:11 AM. The iftar time remains 5:58 PM.
Fasting during Ramadan starts at Subh-e-Sadiq, which is the true dawn. After this time, eating and drinking are not allowed. Islamic scholars say that stopping Sehri on time is necessary for the fast to remain valid. For this reason, authorities advise people to follow the official timetable carefully.
The time of sunset and dawn does not occur at the same moment across the country. Bangladesh has 64 districts, and each district may have a small difference in timing. In most cases, the difference ranges from one to three minutes compared with Dhaka.
Districts in the eastern part of the country usually experience sunset slightly earlier. As a result, Iftar Time 2026 may begin a few minutes before Dhaka. In western districts, sunset can occur a little later. Because of these differences, experts recommend checking the timetable of one’s own district instead of relying only on Dhaka time.
Every year, the Islamic Foundation Bangladesh prepares a full Ramadan calendar for all 64 districts. The timetable includes daily Sehri and Iftar times. These schedules are available through national newspapers, television channels, official websites, and mobile applications.
The timetable changes each day gradually. In general, iftar time becomes about one minute later daily. Sehri time also shifts slowly. Religious authorities advise against depending on the previous day’s schedule. They encourage people to confirm the updated time each day, especially those who remain outside for work.

Islamic teachings describe the moment of iftar as important. It is regarded as a special time for making supplications. Many Muslims choose to offer prayers before breaking their fast. Scholars also advise avoiding waste and excess during iftar, and to break the fast with moderation.
Accurate timing plays a key role in observing Ramadan properly. Following the correct Sehri and Iftar schedule helps ensure the fast is valid under Islamic rules.
According to the official calendar, the first fast was held on February 19, with iftar in Dhaka at 5:58 PM. The second fast falls on February 20, with Sehri ending at 5:11 AM and Iftar again at 5:58 PM. For other districts, residents are advised to check their local timetable published by the Islamic Foundation of Bangladesh to ensure accurate observance throughout the month.
