Postal vote results for Bangladesh’s 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum are expected to be announced tonight or by Friday morning, 13 February. Election-related officials confirmed that counting preparations are now in the final stage.
Salim Ahmad Khan, Team Leader of the “OCV-SDI” project linked to expatriate voter registration, shared the latest figures on Wednesday, 11 February. He said postal ballots sent to overseas voters have been arriving steadily in the country.
According to official data, 766,862 ballots were sent to expatriates who registered through the “Postal Vote BD” mobile app. As of 9:15am on Wednesday, 528,579 voters had received their ballot papers.
Among those who received ballots, 515,619 expatriates have already cast their votes. Of them, 507,327 submitted their ballots to post offices or postal departments in their respective countries.
Returning officers in Bangladesh have so far received 444,436 completed ballots from abroad. In total, 481,185 postal ballots from expatriates have arrived in the country.
Officials said the counting process will follow established election procedures. The election results are expected to be published once verification is complete.
The postal voting system was introduced to allow Bangladeshi citizens living abroad to take part in the national election and referendum. Voters had to register through the “Postal Vote BD” app to receive ballot papers.
At the same time, the Election Commission (EC) has started sending postal ballots to voters living inside the country under the In-Country Postal Voting (ICPV) system. So far, ballots have been sent to 760,898 registered domestic voters.
Election officials say the postal voting process is an important step in expanding voter participation. It allows expatriates and certain domestic voters to cast ballots without being physically present at polling centres.
The postal vote result 2026 is significant because it may affect final tallies in some constituencies. However, officials have not given any early indication of outcomes.
The Election Commission is expected to release the official figures after completing the counting and verification process either later tonight or on Friday morning.
