Primary Teacher Recruitment Final Results Likely Before Election

The Directorate of Primary Education is moving ahead with the recruitment of 14,385 assistant teachers for government primary schools. Officials say the final results may be published before the 13th National Parliamentary Election on February 12.

The oral examinations for this recruitment will start on January 28 and continue until February 3. These viva exams will be held at the district level across the country. After the process ends, the final list of selected candidates may be announced. This information came from a source at the Directorate of Primary Education.

The recruitment is based on the 2025 intake. The written examination was held on January 9 at the same time in 1,408 centres across 61 districts. The three hill districts were excluded from the test.

After the written exam, some job aspirants alleged that the question papers had been leaked. On January 11, more than 150 candidates submitted a memorandum to the Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education. They also alleged other irregularities in the exam process.

The Directorate said the allegations were sent to intelligence agencies for investigation. After a full inquiry, the authorities reported that no evidence was found to support the claims made by the protesters.

On January 21, the Directorate of Primary Education published the Primary Result of the written examination. A total of 69,265 candidates were selected for the oral examination. The viva schedule was announced the following day, on January 22.

According to official data, 1,080,095 applications were submitted for this recruitment of revenue-funded assistant teachers. Among them, 830,088 candidates took part in the written test. After the viva process, 14,385 candidates will be finally appointed as assistant teachers.

Sources said the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and the Directorate of Primary Education are fast-tracking the process. The aim is to complete the recruitment before the current interim government’s term ends. The final results are expected after the oral exams conclude on February 3.
