RU ‘C’ Unit Admission Test Held Today with 82 Candidates per Seat

The admission test for the Science Faculty’s ‘C’ Unit at Rajshahi University (RU) is being held today, 16 January. The exam is part of the first-year undergraduate admission process for the 2025-2026 academic session.

The test is taking place in two shifts. The first shift runs from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, and the second shift runs from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. On average, 82 applicants are competing for each seat in this unit.

The ‘C’ Unit includes seven faculties and 26 departments. These cover science, biological sciences, agriculture, engineering, geosciences, fisheries, and veterinary and animal sciences.

This year, the total number of seats in the ‘C’ Unit is 1,536. This is an increase of 20 seats compared to last year. Of these, 1,496 seats are for science stream students, up from 1,460 last year. The remaining 40 seats are for non-science stream candidates.

Non-science applicants can apply only to three departments. These are Physical Education and Sports Science with 10 seats, Geography and Environmental Studies with 10 seats, and Psychology with 20 seats.

A total of 126,225 applications were submitted for the ‘C’ Unit this year. Among them, 120,838 applicants are from the science stream, while 5,387 are from the non-science stream. Based on these figures, there are 82 applicants for each available seat.

The admission test is being conducted in a multiple-choice question format. The exam carries 100 marks and includes 80 questions. Each question is worth 1.25 marks, and the duration of the test is one hour.

For each wrong answer, 0.20 marks are deducted. This means one mark is deducted for every five incorrect answers. The minimum pass mark is 40.

For science stream candidates, the question paper has two parts. The compulsory section includes Physics, Chemistry, and ICT. The optional section includes questions from Mathematics, Biology, or a combination of Biology and Mathematics.

The examination is being held at public university campuses in the Rajshahi, Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, Rangpur, and Barishal divisions.

Merit lists will be prepared only based on marks obtained in the admission test. No marks from SSC, HSC, or equivalent exams will be added. Further admission-related updates will be published on Rajshahi University’s official admission website.
