Tecno Mobile has officially unveiled its Camon 50 and Camon 50 Pro smartphones in several African markets. The launch comes ahead of their expected showcase at MWC next month.
Both phones share many core features. However, the Pro model includes a curved display and an additional telephoto camera.
The Camon 50 Pro features a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution. It supports a 144Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and gaming. The screen houses a 32-megapixel front camera and an under-display optical fingerprint scanner.
The standard Camon 50 has the same display size, resolution, refresh rate, selfie camera, and fingerprint scanner. However, it uses a flat screen instead of a curved one. Both devices run on MediaTek’s Helio G200 Ultimate chipset. They come with 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
On the back, both phones include a 50-megapixel main camera. It uses Sony’s LYT700C sensor with optical image stabilisation, or OIS. OIS helps reduce blur in photos and videos. The phones also feature an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture.
The Camon 50 Pro adds a third rear camera. It has a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. This allows users to zoom in without losing image quality.
Both phones run HiOS 16 based on Android 16. Tecno has also included its AI-based feature suite. The devices pack large 6,150mAh batteries. They support 45W wired charging. Both models also come with IP69K, IP69, and IP68 ratings for dust and water resistance.
The Camon 50 series is available in Moonlight Black, Malachite Green, Nebula Titanium, Fir Green, Lavender Mist, and Mint Cream. The Pro model also comes in an additional Ethereal Blue colour option.
In Kenya, the Camon 50 is priced at KES 37,500, which is about $290. The Camon 50 Pro starts at KES 44,000, around $341. Both models are listed by Kenyan online retailers.
There is no official confirmation yet on when the Camon 50 series will launch in Bangladesh. Further details are expected in the coming weeks.
