    Two Colleges in Chandpur Suspended

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Comilla, has temporarily suspended eleventh-grade classes and academic recognition at 13 colleges after very poor results in the 2025 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination.

Two of the affected institutions are located in Chandpur. They are Jibgaon General Haq High School and College, and Sharif Ullah High School and College in Matlab Uttar Upazila.

The decision was announced in a letter issued on Thursday (5 March). The letter was signed by Professor Runa Nasrin, Controller of Examinations of the Comilla board.

Board Chairman Professor Md. Samsul Islam said action was taken against institutions that failed to meet required academic standards. He said the board also reviewed colleges whose HSC results were extremely poor.

According to the letter, some institutions recorded pass rates between zero and five percent in the 2025 HSC examination. The board described these results as unsatisfactory.

The issue was discussed at a meeting of the examination committee on 7 January. The meeting was chaired by the board chairman. Members then decided to suspend eleventh-grade teaching and academic approval for the 13 institutions.

Professor Md. Nurunnabi Alam, college inspector of the board, said several colleges had produced weak results for many years. He said the board had issued repeated warnings but saw little improvement.

He added that the latest decision should serve as a warning. Similar action may follow if other institutions continue to produce poor academic results.
