Dhaka Board sets new rules for SSC 2026 exam centre panels

The Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board has issued a new directive for forming centre committees for the 2026 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination. The order was announced in an official letter on Wednesday, March 18.

The board asked authorities to form a five-member “Centre Committee” for each exam centre. The Deputy Commissioner (DC) will lead the committee at the district headquarters. In upazilas and other areas, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) will act as chairman.

Officials must send the committee documents to the Deputy Controller of Examinations (Secondary) by April 5. The board asked authorities to complete the process within this deadline.

According to the directive, the District Education Officer will serve as a member. In upazilas, this role will go to the Upazila Secondary Education Officer. In the Dhaka metropolitan areas, the Thana Secondary Education Officer will take this position.

The committee will also include two head teachers. One must be from a government school and one from a non-government school. If no government school exists, two non-government school heads may join.

The centre secretary will work as the member secretary of the committee. Usually, the head of the approved exam centre will hold this role. If this is not possible, the chairman may appoint another experienced head teacher.

However, strict conflict rules apply. No teacher or officer can serve as the centre secretary if their child sits exams there. This rule aims to ensure fairness during the examination process.

The chairman of the centre committee will also serve as the officer-in-charge. If needed, the chairman may appoint another government official. The board said the replacement must respect official rank and position.

These steps aim to improve exam management and strengthen accountability. Clear roles may also help prevent irregularities during the SSC examinations.

Education officials are now expected to complete committee formation and submit all required documents before the April deadline.
