Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon plans to seek opinions on holding SSC and HSC exams with identical questions. The move would apply to all general education boards in Bangladesh. Discussions began on Wednesday, March 25.
A source at the Ministry of Education said the minister will review both benefits and risks. Talks with key stakeholders may also take place soon. A formal decision may follow after these discussions.
An official from the ministry told The Daily Campus that no final decision exists yet. The plan remains at an early discussion stage. Further action will depend on the minister’s direction.
Earlier, the minister spoke about the idea at an iftar event with education reporters. He said a common question system could ensure equal standards for all students. He also noted that many global competitive exams follow this model.
The minister said the government is considering whether such a system could start next year. He stressed the need to study how it would work in Bangladesh.
The decision may affect millions of SSC and HSC candidates across the country. Education boards are expected to give their feedback before any final announcement.
