The government (Pmeat) has announced a one-time payment of Tk 6,000 for poor but meritorious students. The support is for those admitted to Class XI and Alim first year in the 2025–2026 academic session across Bangladesh.
Students can apply online from April 12. The deadline is April 30, 2026 at 11:59 PM. The information was shared in an official notice signed by Smriti Karmakar, Managing Director of the Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust.
According to the notice, students from government and private institutions are eligible. These institutions fall under the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, Technical Education, and Madrasa Education.
To qualify, students must have at least 60 percent marks or a GPA of 3.50 in the previous exam. The annual income of the guardian must be below Tk 300,000.
Special categories will also get priority. These include orphans, persons with disabilities, children of freedom fighters, and children of 20th-grade government employees. Applicants must upload proof for these categories.

Students must submit several documents online. These include a ‘very poor’ certificate from a local representative, a certificate from the institution head, birth registration, parents’ NID, and bank account details.
Officials said there is no need to send any hard copy. A high-level committee will check all applications. Selected students will receive the money directly into their or their guardian’s bank account.
The online system aims to make the process faster and more transparent before final selection.
