The government will introduce random checking of exam answer scripts to improve fairness, Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon said on Sunday in Dhaka.
He made the announcement at a meeting with centre secretaries held at Azimpur Government Girls’ School and College. The minister said the current system has gaps that affect marking quality.
“Some teachers say all students pass if they check scripts. Others say all fail. This cannot continue,” he said. He added that scripts will be reviewed randomly to ensure a consistent standard.
The minister also highlighted concerns about the rise of coaching centres. He said these centres are growing due to weaknesses in regular teaching. “First, we must train our teachers properly. What they teach should be our main focus,” he said.

He noted that many students now depend on private tutors. Some even take multiple tutors before turning to coaching centres. This, he said, shows a lack of trust in classroom teaching.
The ministry plans to improve teacher training and strengthen monitoring of exams. Officials expect these steps to raise education quality and restore confidence in the system.
