The HSC Exam 2026 in Bangladesh will begin on July 2, according to Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon.
The minister shared the update with a private television channel on Saturday, April 18. The announcement changes an earlier plan that set the exams to start on June 7.
Previously, the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee had taken a preliminary decision to hold the examinations from June 7. That decision was made at a meeting of board chairmen in Dhaka on March 30, 2026.
At the time, officials said the date would need final approval from the education minister before any formal notice could be issued. The June 7 schedule was therefore not final.
With Saturday’s statement, the minister has now announced July 2 as the revised start date for the nationwide public exams.
The HSC examination is one of the most important academic tests in Bangladesh. Students from general education boards, madrasa boards, and technical boards take part through equivalent systems.
A confirmed exam date is important for students, parents, and teachers. It helps schools complete final preparation, revision classes, and practical exam schedules. Coaching centres, transport services, and hostels also plan around the timetable.
Officials have not yet explained why the earlier June date was changed. No detailed routine or subject-wise schedule was announced on Saturday.
Students are now expected to wait for the official notice from the relevant education boards. That notice is likely to include the full routine, instructions, and other exam-related details in the coming days.
