The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations for 2026 will begin tomorrow across Bangladesh. Ahead of the exams, Education Minister and Minister of Education and Primary and Mass Education Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon said the government has taken strong steps to prevent question leaks.
He made the remarks at a press conference held by the Ministry of Education on Monday, April 20.
The minister said cyber surveillance will be used to detect any attempt to leak question papers online. He added that authorities are watching possible cybercrime linked to the examinations.
“We are monitoring cybercrime,” he said. He also said officials have prepared lists of people who will collect question papers from police stations, so their activities can be tracked if needed.
According to the minister, a special monitoring cell has been formed to respond quickly to any problem during the exam period. He said a WhatsApp group has also been created for fast communication among district officials.

He said deputy commissioners (DCs), upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs), and other officials are part of the group. This, he said, will help field officials share updates and take action without delay.
Dr Milon also said the Public Examination Act, 1980, has recently been sent to the Law Ministry for updates. He noted that the old law did not include digital crime, which has now become a major concern.
He said new provisions related to online offences have been added. The legal definition of examinations has also been revised, as the earlier version mentioned only older public exam formats.
On answer script marking, the minister said no instruction has been given to award “humanitarian marks.” He said the government is instead giving board examiners enough time to check scripts properly.
“We are discussing whether the checking system is correct or not,” he said.
Speaking about private coaching centres, the minister said the need for coaching grows when proper teaching does not happen in classrooms. He added that the government has not given registration to coaching centres and does not have an official list of them.
He also said numbers have been sent to cyber specialists to help control online crime during the exam period.
The SSC and equivalent examinations are one of Bangladesh’s largest public exams, and authorities are expected to keep strict monitoring in place throughout the schedule.
