The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations for 2026 began on April 21 with the Bangla 1st Paper test. The Bangla 2nd Paper exam is scheduled for Thursday, April 23, according to the official routine.
Students due to sit the exam are now making their final preparations. The tests are being held at 3,885 centres across the country. Candidates from 30,666 educational institutions are taking part this year.
Under the nine general education boards, 1,134,853 students were registered for the Bangla 1st Paper exam. Of them, 1,122,963 attended the test, while 11,890 were absent. Read SSC Exam 2026 Day 1: 25,408 absentees, 7 expelled
Overall, 1,857,344 students are appearing in the SSC and equivalent exams in 2026. Among them, 930,305 are male students, and 927,039 are female students.
Of the total candidates, 1,418,398 are under the nine general education boards. Another 304,286 students are under the Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board. A further 134,660 students are under the Bangladesh Technical Education Board.
The large number of candidates shows the importance of the SSC exams, which are a key stage for students seeking admission to higher secondary colleges.
The next major focus for students and families will be Thursday’s Bangla 2nd Paper exam as the national exam schedule continues.
