Online registration for students studying in Class 8 in 2026 will begin on May 2 under the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board. The process will continue until May 25, according to a notice published on the board’s website on Wednesday.
The notice asked principals and head teachers of institutions under the board to complete all required work within the deadline.
Students who passed the Class 7 annual examination in 2025 and were registered under the board in Class 6 in 2024 will be eligible for registration. The process must be completed through the online eSIF system.
According to the notice, students must meet the age rules on January 1 of the examination year. The minimum age is 11 years and above, while the maximum age is 17 years. For specially-abled students, the maximum age limit is 22 years.
The board said only students studying at institutions with valid teaching permission and recognition from the Dhaka board can register under their own school name. Institutions without approved teaching permission will not be allowed to register students under their own name.
Instead, those students may be registered through a nearby approved lower secondary school, secondary school, or college.

Schools must log in to the board’s website using their EIIN and password. After entering the dashboard, they must open the eSIF Eight section and submit required information, including applicant name, mobile number, and total number of students.
A Sonali Seba payment slip must then be printed for bank payment. The notice clearly said photocopies of the slip cannot be used for payment.
The board also said fees cannot be deposited in any account other than the specified account. No extra students can be admitted and registered without prior permission from the board.
If the payment is cleared by the bank within 24 hours, schools will be able to complete the eSIF process for listed students. After payment clearance, institutions may reissue the Sonali Seba slip within the allowed period to add omitted student data.
To complete registration, each institution must form a three-member committee made up of teachers. The committee must check all student information using school admission forms and birth certificates before final submission.
The board said students cannot be assigned to registration work under any circumstances.
A signed printed copy of the final submitted list must be kept at the institution. If there is any mistake in student information, the head of the institution and committee members will be jointly responsible.
The official fee structure for each student is as follows: registration fee Tk50, Scout fee Tk25, Girl Guides fee Tk15, Red Crescent fee Tk16, and welfare trust fund fee Tk100. The total fee is Tk206. With late fee, the total becomes Tk256.
The notice also warned schools not to collect any money beyond the approved charges.
Newly approved lower secondary schools that have not previously completed eSIF under their own name must first collect an EIIN certificate from BANBEIS. They must then deposit Tk1,500 through Sonali Bank Sonali Seba service to receive a login password through the school branch.
The board said recognition status of all institutions must be updated. Schools without valid recognition, or without renewed recognition, may face action later if they complete registration without proper approval.
For specially-abled students, schools must mention the status during registration and attach a certificate from the proper authority.
Institutions that miss the May 25 deadline, or create problems for students due to delay, will be held responsible by the board.
