The SSC and Equivalent Result 2026 will be published across Bangladesh on July 20, Education and Primary and Mass Education Adviser Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon has announced.
Following the confirmation of the result publication date, many students and guardians have been seeking clarity about the admission process for HSC Admission 2026. Around 1.85 million candidates and more than 3.6 million guardians are now waiting for both the SSC results and the guidelines for college admissions.
Questions about the admission process emerged after recent discussions on introducing admission tests for school admissions instead of the lottery-based system used in previous years. The discussions led some students to wonder whether a similar change could be introduced for Class XI admissions.
However, according to officials familiar with the matter, there is little indication of a major change this year. Students are expected to be admitted to colleges based on their SSC and equivalent examination results, following the existing system.
Sources from the education boards said the current policy position is to continue admissions without a separate entrance examination. Under the proposed arrangement, college placements would be made through a centralized online system. Seats would be allocated based on students’ merit rankings and their preferred institutions.
A special meeting of education board chairmen is expected to take place this week. Officials are expected to review all relevant issues before preparing a final framework. The recommendations will then be formally submitted to the Ministry of Education for approval and announcement.
Some institutions are expected to continue their own admission procedures. Traditional missionary-run colleges, including Notre Dame College, Holy Cross College and St. Joseph Higher Secondary School, usually conduct written or oral admission tests for student selection. As a result, many interested applicants have already started preparing for those examinations.
Despite this, most students are expected to rely on the centralized admission system because of the limited number of seats available in these institutions.
The SSC theoretical examinations were held from April 21 to May 20, while practical examinations took place between June 7 and June 14. This year, 1,857,344 candidates from 11 education boards participated in the examinations.
The Ministry of Education is expected to announce the final Class XI admission guidelines after the education boards complete their review process.
