This guarantee was issued by the commission on Sunday, July 19, and is particularly significant this time. Unlike previous BCS cycles, where the date of each stage was uncertain, the 50th BCS is following a pre-established plan, and so far, the PSC has met all the planned milestones.
The Roadmap So Far: Every Date Kept
The 50th BCS is the flagship test of the PSC’s “One BCS, One Year” plan — the commission’s commitment to complete an entire BCS cycle, from circular to final result, within a single year. Here’s how the journey has actually unfolded against that plan:
- November 26: Circular published — 2,150 posts in total
- January 30: Preliminary examination held
- February 10: Preliminary result published — 12,385 candidates passed
- April 9–23: Written examinations held in the divisional cities
- Late July (probable: July 30): Written result — the stage we’re at now
- August 10 onward: Viva voce scheduled to begin
- November 25: Final result target
Compared to the historical reality of BCS cycles lasting three or even four years, a written result arriving approximately three months after the exams—exactly as planned—is truly unusual. The PSC’s statement on Sunday suggests that the commission is aware that the credibility of its one-year promise hinges on this stage and intends to adhere to the timeline.
What’s at Stake: 2,150 Posts
The 50th BCS will recruit for 1,755 cadre posts and 395 non-cadre posts — 2,150 in total. Among the cadres, the largest allocations are:
- Health: 650 posts — the biggest single block
- Administration: 200 posts
- Education: 185 posts
For those candidates now waiting for the written exam, the figures are encouraging: approximately one in seven test-takers can expect a recommendation, whether for a management position or not, at the end of the process, making this one of the most favorable ratios in the recent history of the BCS for those who reached the written stage.

If the results are announced at the end of July, or even earlier, the most important detail of the plan is this: the oral interview begins on August 10, possibly just a few days after the written results are published. This leaves the selected candidates with a dangerously tight timeframe.
