HSC Exams Postponed to July 2 Over Student Demands

    HSC Exam 2026 Date Changed

The Ministry of Education has postponed this year’s HSC and equivalent examinations. The exams will now begin on July 2 instead of the earlier date of June 7.

The decision was taken at a meeting on Saturday. Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon attended the meeting.

A source present at the meeting said the ministry changed its decision for two main reasons. First, many students had demanded that the exams be held in July. Second, officials considered the timing of when HSC classes began for this batch.

An education board chairman, who attended the meeting and spoke on condition of anonymity, said some participants raised concerns at the start of the discussion. They noted that HSC classes for current candidates began in September. They also said students had been calling for a delay after the June 7 schedule was announced.

“Considering these issues, the decision was made to start the exams from July 2,” the chairman told The Daily Campus.

Officials have also made a preliminary plan to complete the exams within five weeks. Final approval will come after the official routine is published.

Last year, HSC and equivalent exams began on June 26 and ended on August 21. The process took nearly two months, which many saw as lengthy for students and administrators.

The ministry now aims to shorten the exam period to reduce pressure and improve efficiency.

This year will also see a major change in the exam system. For the first time, all 11 education boards, including nine general boards, will use a unified question paper. In previous years, only the Madrasa and Technical Education Boards followed a common question system.

The new routine is expected to be published soon, which will confirm the full exam schedule.
