SSC, HSC Exams Not in December

The government is reconsidering its initial plan to hold the 2027 SSC and HSC examinations in December this year. Stakeholders at a meeting held on Wednesday at the Ministry of Education expressed opinions against the proposal.

Earlier, Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon said there was a preliminary plan to take both public examinations in December 2026.

Officials who attended Wednesday’s meeting said most opinions supported holding the SSC examination in January 2027 and the HSC examination in June that year.

Another senior official said some participants also suggested holding the SSC examination in January and the HSC examination in April.

The meeting included education experts and other stakeholders. Discussions focused on adjusting the academic calendar and reducing pressure on students.

After the meeting, the Education Minister said the government was discussing possible schedules for both examinations. He said the ministry was trying to decide whether the adjustment target would be completed in 2027 or extended to 2028.

“The main point is that students should not suffer due to decisions of the Ministry of Education,” he said.

Sub-Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division Sabina Yasmin told the media that stakeholders gave opinions on possible examination dates during the meeting.

She said the ministry is expected to announce a final decision within the next one or two days.

The decision is important for millions of SSC and HSC candidates across Bangladesh, as it will affect class schedules, preparation time, and the national academic calendar.
