The National University has started the online form fill-up process for the 2025 Honours First Year examination from Wednesday, May 13, 2026. The process will continue until June 11, according to an official notice issued by the university.
The notice was signed by the Controller of Examinations, Md Enamul Karim. It said regular students of the 2024–25 academic session can apply for the examination. Several groups of irregular and grade improvement candidates are also eligible under specific conditions.
The university said students from the 2021–22, 2022–23 and 2023–24 academic sessions can apply as irregular or grade improvement candidates. Promoted students from the 2017–18 to 2020–21 sessions who still have F grades in one or more courses may also participate.
Students must complete the online application form and submit a printed copy to their respective colleges. College authorities will verify and confirm applications online from May 14 to June 15.
The university said examination fees must be deposited through Sonali Bank between June 17 and June 18. Students will also need to pay separate fees for practical examinations, in-course assessments and examination centres.
According to the notice, students must enter all information carefully while filling out the form. Subject codes and other details must match the registration records. Any incorrect information may lead to the cancellation of the application.
The university also warned that applications filled with subjects outside the registration card will not be accepted. If a mistake is made, students must cancel the application through their college and submit a new one before the admit cards are issued.

Students are required to submit a photocopy of their registration card along with the printed application form to their department, following the college instructions.
The notice said students who took the Honours First Year examination between the 2018–19 and 2023–24 academic sessions and later moved to the second year with one or more F grades can retake those courses in the 2025 examination.
However, such candidates will not be allowed to receive more than a B+ grade, regardless of their results. The university said all F-grade courses must be retaken and improved to at least a D grade within the registration validity period.
Special instructions were also issued for unsuccessful students from the 2017–18 academic session. Those students can sit for the 2025 examination by paying a total fee of Tk 5,000.
They will take the examination as irregular candidates under the old 2013–14 syllabus. The university said registration renewal will not be necessary for them.
However, the notice added that if these students fail again, they will not get another chance to appear in future examinations. They will also not be eligible for grade improvement in practical examinations.
The university further said regular students will take examinations under the revised syllabus introduced for the 2024–25 academic session of the four-year Honours programme. Irregular students will follow the syllabus from the 2013–14 academic session.
Students who were marked as C-Promoted in the 2024 Honours First Year examination must sit for the subjects in which they were absent. Candidates who passed the 2024 examination on their first attempt may apply for grade improvement in up to two courses where they received C or D grades.
The university advised students to download application forms from the official NU website and check all subject codes carefully before submission. Authorities said detailed instructions and examination-related updates will be published on the university website in the coming days.
