A serious irregularity has been detected surrounding the results of the highly anticipated primary school scholarship exam. Before any official announcement, the results from nine districts in the Dhaka Division appeared on the website Thursday morning and quickly spread on social media. The Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) has formed a three-member committee to investigate the incident.
What Actually Happened
According to an administrative order signed by the Director of Administration of the DPE, Mahbuba Irin, on Thursday, July 9, the scholarship exam results were finalized on July 8. The Assistant Maintenance Engineer of the Directorate, Mehtab Kayes, was tasked with creating the necessary web links to upload the results to the portal.
He was clearly instructed not to upload the results before their official publication by the relevant authority. Despite this instruction, around 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, the results from nine districts of the Dhaka Division were uploaded to these links on the server.
Although the links remained active only briefly, it was enough time for ordinary users to download the results files and begin sharing them widely on Facebook and other social media platforms, causing confusion among students and parents, as the ministry had not yet published any results that day.
Security Protocols Were Not Followed
A report from the Directorate’s internal control department determined that the accused official failed to follow required cybersecurity protocols when creating links and uploading the results to a live server. This security breach allowed the results to be made public before the official announcement.
The Directorate of Public Education (DPE) has already taken the matter seriously at the highest level. Director General Shahina Ferdousi sent a letter to the Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, recommending that action be taken against the official, and disciplinary proceedings have been initiated.
The Three-Member Probe Committee
To fully investigate the incident, the DPE formed a three-member committee through a separate administrative order. The committee is composed of:
- Convener: Md. Mirajul Islam Ukil, Director (Planning and Development), DPE
- Member: Md. Ziaul Kabir Sumon, Education Officer, Stipend Division
- Member Secretary: Rokhsana Haydar, Assistant Director (Administration-2)
The committee has been directed to submit a detailed report within the next three working days.

So When Is the Official Result Coming?
The directorate had prepared to publish the results on Thursday, but the announcement did not take place. According to ministry sources, the official results are now expected to be published on Sunday.
This year’s scholarship examination — held from April 15 to 18 after a long gap — was taken by around 6.5 lakh Class 5 students across the country. Based on merit, a total of 82,500 students will be selected for scholarships in the Talentpool and General categories.
A Word of Caution for Parents
Since some of the leaked results are circulating on social media, many parents may be tempted to trust these files. Our advice: treat any results you see on Facebook as unverified. Wait for the official announcement and verify the results only through official channels: the DPE results portal (ipemis.dpe.gov.bd) or the official SMS method. Leaked or altered files may contain inaccurate information and cause unnecessary disappointment or false celebrations.
We will publish the official link to the results and complete instructions for verification as soon as the ministry officially releases them. Stay tuned for the latest updates on this matter.
