The Primary Scholarship Result unlikely to be published within the second week of May as previously expected. Officials from the Directorate of Primary Education said the work is still incomplete due to delays in script evaluation and other result preparation activities.
The scholarship examination for students who completed Class Five was held from April 15 to April 18, 2026, after several postponements linked to legal complications. The examination started with the Bangla subject and ended with Bangladesh and Global Studies and Primary Science.
This year, slightly more than 6 lakh 40 thousand students took part in the examination. Among them, around 5 lakh 50 thousand students were from government primary schools, while about 90 thousand students were from private primary schools and kindergartens.
Sources at the Directorate of Primary Education said the results preparation process is taking longer than expected. As a result, officials cannot confirm an exact publication date at this stage.
A S M Sirajuddoha, Deputy Director (Establishment) of the Administration Division at the Directorate, said the authorities had initially set a target to publish the results within May. However, several important tasks are still pending.

“Many activities, including script evaluation, are not yet complete. For this reason, it will not be possible to publish the results in the second week of May,” he said.
When asked whether the results could be published before Eid-ul-Azha, he said the authorities are trying to complete the process before the Eid holidays.
“The number of examinees is very high, and the process is time-consuming. Still, the directorate is making efforts. The Primary Scholarship Result 2026 may be published before the Eid holidays,” he added.
According to the Directorate of Primary Education, a total of 82,500 students will receive scholarships this year. Among them, 66,000 scholarships will go to students from government primary schools, while 16,500 scholarships will be awarded to students from private primary schools.
The scholarship selection will follow merit ranking along with district and upazila-based allocation. Based on participation numbers, the scholarship ratio for government schools will be one scholarship for every eight students. In private schools, the ratio will be around one scholarship for every five and a half students.
Students will receive two categories of scholarships. A total of 33,000 students will receive Talent Pool scholarships, while 49,500 students will receive General scholarships.
Under the current structure, Talent Pool scholarship holders will receive 300 taka per month along with a one-time annual payment of 225 taka. Students receiving General scholarships will get 225 taka per month and an annual payment of 225 taka.
The scholarship support will continue for two years after students pass Class Five.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has proposed increasing the scholarship amount by two to four times. If the Ministry of Finance approves the proposal, the revised amount may be introduced for students appearing in the 2026 scholarship examination.
