Rajshahi University (RU) has admitted errors in the published results of its ‘C’ Unit admission test after more than 100 students were reportedly shown as failed despite getting the required pass marks.
The issue relates to first-year undergraduate (honours) admissions for the 2025–2026 academic session. Students said the pass mark for both science and non-science groups was set at 40.
However, science group candidates had extra rules for compulsory and optional sections. Students alleged that these same science conditions were also applied to non-science candidates when the results were published.
As a result, many students who scored above the pass mark were listed as failed. Several hundred candidates may have been affected, according to university officials.
Humaira Akter Liza, one of the affected students, said she was marked as failed despite scoring 54.50 marks.
She said the mistake stopped her from taking part in the practical exam for the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science.
“The mistake of the university administration has caused me great loss,” she said.
Another complaint came from Akramuzzaman, the father of the applicant, Sheikh Saifuzzaman. He said his son scored 46.50 marks under the sports quota but did not receive a call for an interview because he was shown as failed.
Professor Saiful Islam, Director of the university’s ICT Center, said he had become aware of the complaints.
He said technical errors may have affected several hundred students. He added that the final decision on the matter would be taken by the relevant unit authorities.
Professor Golam Mortuza, coordinator of the ‘C’ Unit and Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences, said a meeting had been called to solve the problem.
Professor Farid Uddin Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic), said an emergency meeting would be held on April 19.
The final decision is expected to address result corrections and the next steps for affected candidates.
