Samsung One UI 8.5 Update

Samsung has started rolling out the stable One UI 8.5 update for the Galaxy S25 series in several markets, including India. The update is based on Android 16 and was first released in South Korea last week before expanding to the United States and other regions.

The update is now available for the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra smartphones. According to posts shared by users on X, the software can already be downloaded on supported devices in India and the US.

X user CID (@theonecid) reported that the update carries firmware versions S938USQU9CZDP and S938UOYN9CZDP in the US. The download size is about 4.4GB and it also includes the April security patch.

Several users on X also said the rollout is expected to expand gradually to more countries over the coming weeks. Markets expected to receive the update include Canada, China, the United Kingdom, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, France, Indonesia, the Philippines, and the Netherlands.

The stable One UI 8.5 update introduces several Galaxy AI-powered features that were previously available only on the Galaxy S26 series. These include Call Screening, Agentic AI, Creative Studio, continuous AI image generation, improved Audio Eraser tools, and upgraded Bixby functions.

Samsung has also reportedly started releasing One UI 8.5 for other eligible devices in South Korea. According to X user Anthony (@TheGalox_), supported devices include the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Z TriFold and Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.

The company is also expected to expand the update to older flagship phones and Fan Edition models in the coming weeks. This may include the Galaxy S23 series and selected FE devices, although Samsung has not officially confirmed the full rollout timeline for every market.

The One UI 8.5 rollout matters for Indian Samsung users because it brings the latest Galaxy AI features to older premium devices without requiring a hardware upgrade. The update also improves software security and adds new Android 16-based features.
