The number of students sitting for this year’s Dakhil examination has increased, according to education officials. A total of 304,286 examinees will take part, up from 294,726 last year. This marks an increase of 9,560 candidates.

A source from the Inter-Education Board confirmed the figures on Sunday, April 19, speaking to Allresultnet.com.

Across all education boards, 1,418,398 students are registered under nine general boards. The Madrasa Education Board has 304,286 examinees. Of them, 161,000 are male, and 142,795 are female. The Technical Education Board has 134,660 candidates, including 101,509 males and 33,151 females.

In total, 930,305 male and 927,039 female students will sit for SSC and equivalent exams this year.

The Dhaka Education Board has the highest number of examinees. It will host 366,650 students, including 169,939 males and 196,711 females. The board has arranged 510 exam centres across 3,441 institutions.

The Barishal Education Board has the lowest number of candidates. A total of 81,831 students will take part there. Among them, 37,944 are male, and 43,887 are female. The board has set up 216 centres in 1,515 institutions.

The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations for 2026 will begin on Tuesday, April 21. Exams will continue until May 20. Each exam will start at 10:00 AM.

Practical exams are scheduled from June 7 to June 14. Officials said all related documents must be arranged and submitted by June 18.

Authorities have issued special instructions for students. From April 18, students were advised to enter exam centres from 8:30 AM to reduce traffic congestion. However, existing entry rules will still apply.

On April 19, all centres were also instructed to ensure safe drinking water for examinees. Officials said these steps aim to support smooth and safe exam conditions across the country.
