The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Religious Studies exam for 2026 was held on Thursday across Bangladesh. The exam started at 10 AM and ended at 1 PM. According to official data, 12,982 candidates were absent from the country’s nine general education boards. Two students were expelled during the exam.
On the same day, the English Second Paper exam took place under the Madrasa Education Board. A total of 13,983 candidates were absent from that exam. Authorities also expelled 14 students. The board had 258,045 registered candidates for the test.

This year, 1,857,344 students registered for the SSC and equivalent examinations nationwide. Of them, 1,418,398 candidates are under the nine general education boards. The Madrasa Education Board has 304,286 candidates, while the Technical Education Board has 134,660 candidates.
The participation of male and female students remains nearly equal this year. Official figures show 930,305 male candidates and 927,039 female candidates registered for the examinations.
The Dhaka Education Board has the highest number of candidates among all boards. A total of 366,650 students are appearing under the board this year. Among them, 169,939 are male, and 196,711 are female. The board is conducting exams through 510 centres and 3,441 institutions.
In contrast, the Sylhet Education Board has the lowest number of candidates. A total of 89,421 students are registered under the board. Of them, 35,530 are male, and 53,891 are female. The board has arranged exams at 225 centres involving 973 institutions.
The Rajshahi Education Board has 177,709 candidates this year. Among them, 93,174 are male and 84,535 are female. The board is using 274 centres and 2,279 institutions for the examinations.
Meanwhile, the Comilla Education Board has 146,817 candidates, while the Jessore Education Board has 135,089 candidates participating this year.
The SSC and equivalent examinations will continue according to the published schedule in the coming days.
