The Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) has published the results of its undergraduate admission test for the 2025–26 academic year. The BUTEX Result were released on Friday, 16 January, on the university’s official website.
According to the published data, a total of 4,500 students have passed the written admission test this year. The university confirmed that the merit list is now available online for applicants to check.
Afsar Uddin Ahmed secured first place on the merit list with roll number 101295. S M Afif Iqbal, roll number 107799, achieved the second position. Md. Nafis Sadik secured the third position with roll number 100112.
The admission test was held earlier on 9 January. The examination took place at four centres in Dhaka, including the BUTEX main campus. Other centres were Dhaka City College, Siddheswari Girls’ College, and Dhaka Residential Model College.
The test was a written examination worth 200 marks. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics carried 60 marks each. English carried 20 marks. The exam structure was announced before the test and followed the university’s standard admission format.
For the 2025–26 academic year, BUTEX will admit students to 630 seats. These seats are spread across 11 departments under five faculties. University officials said the number of seats remains unchanged from previous years.
Five departments will each take 80 students. These are Yarn Engineering, Fabric Engineering, Wet Process Engineering, Apparel Engineering, and Textile Engineering Management. Together, these departments account for the majority of available seats.
Six other departments will each admit 30 students. These departments are Textile Fashion and Design, Industrial and Production Engineering, Textile Machinery Design and Maintenance, Dyes and Chemicals Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering, and Textile Materials Engineering.

University authorities clarified that although 4,500 candidates have been placed on the merit list, only a limited number will be offered admission. Selection will depend strictly on merit, position and the total number of available seats.
Officials also said that the admission schedule and detailed instructions will be announced soon. Candidates have been advised to follow updates on the official BUTEX website for accurate and timely information.
The publication of the results marks a significant milestone for applicants seeking admission this year. Further steps in the admission process will begin once the university releases the next official notice related to the BUTEX admission result 2026 timeline.
