50th BCS Preli Result likely by February 10; PSC

The Public Service Commission says OMR checking is underway after the nationwide preliminary test held on January 30.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has said the preliminary result of the 50th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination is expected to be published by February 10.

PSC Chairman Professor Mobasher Monem gave the information on Sunday, February 1, while speaking to the Media.

He said the verification of Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets is now in progress. OMR sheets are machine-read answer papers used to check multiple-choice exams quickly and accurately.

“The results of the preliminary examination of the 50th BCS will be published within a very short time. We hope to be able to publish the results of this BCS by February 10,” Professor Mobasher Monem said.

The preliminary examination of the 50th BCS was held last Friday, on January 30. The test took place from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. According to the PSC, the exam was conducted at the same time in Dhaka Metropolitan City and in eight divisional cities across the country.

The PSC Chairman also said the 50th BCS Preliminary results will be published before the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election. A total of 290,951 candidates applied for the 50th BCS. The number of applicants is lower than in recent years, according to the PSC.

Through this BCS process, the government plans to recruit a total of 2,150 candidates in both cadre and non-cadre posts. Out of these, 1,755 positions are cadre posts. The highest number of recruits will be taken into the Health Cadre, with up to 650 positions.

The Administration Cadre will recruit 200 candidates. The Police Cadre will recruit 117 candidates. There are also 395 non-cadre positions under this recruitment process. Among them, 71 posts are in ninth-grade positions.

The 50th BCS Preli Result is important for a large number of young graduates, as only successful candidates in the preliminary stage will be allowed to sit for the written examination. The preliminary test is the first and most competitive stage of the BCS selection system.

For many candidates, the result will determine whether they can move forward in the process to compete for government service positions in different cadres.

The PSC said the current focus is on completing the OMR verification so that the results can be published within the announced timeframe. Once the preliminary results are released, the commission will announce the next steps for qualified candidates.
