The final result of the 46th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination has been published today, Sunday (February 8). The authority announced the date following a meeting of the Public Service Commission (PSC) in Dhaka.
Update: BPSC has published the 46th BCS Viva Result on February 8 at around 6:40 PM.
A meeting of the full commission of the constitutional body is currently underway. According to PSC sources, the issue of publishing the final result of the 46th BCS is included on the meeting agenda. Officials said this makes the release of the result almost certain later today.
However, the preliminary result of the 50th BCS may not be published today. PSC sources confirmed that this issue is not listed on the agenda of the on going meeting.
When contacted, PSC Chairman Professor Mobasher Momen told to the media that no final decision could be shared at this moment. “I cannot say anything right now about the publication of the results of the 46th and 50th BCS. We need a little more time,” he said.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a senior PSC official said the 46th BCS result is expected to be released today if final approval is given. “The 50th BCS is not on the meeting agenda. However, if the results are ready, a decision may still be taken at the full commission meeting,” the official added.
The 46th BCS is being held to fill 3,140 vacant government posts. After the preliminary and written examinations, 4,042 candidates appeared in the viva voce stage. If approved, successful candidates will receive temporary recommendations today.
According to PSC information, the Health Cadre has the highest number of posts in the 46th BCS. These include 1,682 assistant surgeons and 16 assistant dental surgeons. The Education Cadre will see appointments to 920 posts. Other posts include 274 in the Administration Cadre, 80 in the Police Cadre, and 10 in the Foreign Affairs Cadre, along with several professional cadre positions.
Meanwhile, details of the 50th BCS show a lower number of applicants compared to recent years. A total of 290,951 candidates applied for this examination. Through the 50th BCS, 2,150 candidates will be recruited to cadre and non-cadre posts.
Of the 1,755 cadre posts, the Health Cadre again has the highest share with 650 positions. The Administration Cadre will recruit 200 candidates, while 117 posts are allocated to the Police Cadre. Among the 395 non-cadre posts, 71 are in ninth-grade positions.
The PSC is expected to make an official announcement after today’s meeting, once final decisions are completed.
