The Election Commission (EC) has announced unofficial results for 292 of the 299 seats in the 13th National Parliament election. The results were released at the EC building in Agargaon, Dhaka, after vote counting ended on Thursday night.
According to the EC, candidates from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its alliance have won 212 seats so far. The 11-party alliance led by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami secured 72 seats. Candidates from other parties won eight seats.
Voting began at 7:30am on Thursday and ended at 4:30pm. Counting started around 5pm. Results from different constituencies were announced through the evening and late into the night.
Among senior leaders, BNP Chairperson won in Dhaka-17 and Bogra-6. Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman won in Dhaka-15. Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam secured victory in Dhaka-11.
At the secretary general level, BNP Secretary General won Thakurgaon-1. NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain won Rangpur-4. However, Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwan did not cross the electoral threshold, according to the results released so far.
The EC has not yet announced results for seven constituencies. Officials said counting and verification processes are continuing where needed.
These results are unofficial and may be updated after final verification. The official gazette notification will confirm the final outcome of the election.
The remaining seat results are expected to be announced after the completion of counting and confirmation by the Election Commission.
