Institute Head Teacher Exam on April 18: NTRCA

The recruitment exam for heads of private educational institutions may take place on April 18 as planned, according to the chairman of the Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA).

NTRCA Chairman, Md. Aminul Islam said a new notice will be issued soon. He shared this information with the media. The exam will cover posts such as head teachers, assistant head teachers, principals, vice-principals, superintendents, and assistant superintendents.

A source from the exam organising committee said several meetings were held earlier. These meetings fixed the exam date before the latest policy changes. The committee also discussed the question paper preparation with the Bangladesh Government Press (BG Press).

Officials believe changing the exam date now could create logistical problems. They said it may become difficult to arrange the test later if delayed.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has revised the recruitment policy. The new rule requires 18 years of teaching experience for institution head posts. This change has made previous applications invalid.

Because of this change, NTRCA plans to cancel earlier applications. The authority is preparing to invite fresh applications. Sources said the new application window may open on March 15 and continue until March 25.

The exam organising committee was scheduled to discuss these issues in a meeting on Thursday. Final decisions on the application timeline were expected after this meeting.

Md. Aminul Islam said the application dates are still under discussion. He said a final decision will come after the committee review. He also confirmed that policy changes made the cancellation of earlier applications likely.

NTRCA also said it will refund application fees to affected candidates. More than 86,000 teachers had applied under the previous circular. Each applicant paid a fee of Tk 350.

Officials said the refund process is still under discussion. The money may be returned through the mobile financial service bKash. However, NTRCA has not yet confirmed the final refund method.

The chairman said discussions on the refund process would continue. He said a formal decision will be announced after internal review.
