The Primary Scholarship Examination for 2025 may begin on April 15, 2026. The exam will run for four days and end on April 18. Authorities delayed the test earlier due to a legal dispute over student eligibility.
The Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) has confirmed the possible date.
The DPE said the examination will carry a total of 400 marks. Bangla, English, and Mathematics will each have 100 marks. Primary Science and Bangladesh, and Global Studies will carry 50 marks each.
The last scholarship exam for primary school students took place in 2022. The test was stopped after the Primary Education Completion (PEC) exam began in 2009. After that change, authorities awarded scholarships based on PEC results.
The government decided last year to restart the scholarship examination. At first, only government primary school students could take part. Parents and teachers from private schools and kindergartens challenged this decision in the High Court. They said the rule was unfair to their students.

After a hearing, the court ordered equal participation. It said students from private and other approved schools must also be allowed. This order forced officials to delay the exam schedule.
Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon later confirmed a new timeline. He said the postponed exam will take place in April 2026. He also confirmed that students from both government and private schools can participate.
Officials are now expected to publish detailed exam instructions before the planned start date.
