The Bangladesh Secondary Assistant Teachers’ Association has called for a change to recruitment rules for head teachers. The group wants the government to cancel the 18-year experience requirement. The demand came in a statement from its Chattogram district branch on March 14.
The statement described the rule as unreasonable and unfair for MPO-listed private institutions. MPO means Monthly Pay Order, a government salary support scheme for private teachers. The group said such a long requirement limits career growth for capable teachers.
The association proposed reducing the experience requirement to 10 to 12 years. It said this range would allow more skilled teachers to apply. The group believes this change would improve leadership opportunities in schools.

The statement also warned of possible protests after the upcoming Eid holiday. It said MPO-listed teachers may start a strict movement if the rule stays. However, the group did not give details about the planned actions.
The association urged authorities to review the policy quickly. It said fair rules would help maintain quality leadership in private educational institutions.
