The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has issued four urgent instructions for candidates of the 50th BCS written examination. The notice was signed by Controller of Examinations Masuma Afreen on Sunday, March 15.
PSC said candidates must not bring any banned items into the examination hall. These include mobile phones, electronic devices, watches, calculators, books, bags, wallets, and jewellery. Items similar to credit or debit cards are also prohibited. Candidates carrying such items will not be allowed to enter.
The notice said candidates must enter the hall only after admit card checks. This process will take place at the gate. An Executive Magistrate and police members will remain present during verification. Authorities will also search candidates using metal detectors before entry.
PSC said candidates will receive SMS reminders on their mobile phones before the examination day. The messages will repeat the instructions about prohibited items. Candidates must follow these instructions carefully.
During the examination, candidates must keep their ears fully visible at all times. No covering will be allowed. If a candidate needs a hearing aid, prior approval is required. They must submit a specialist doctor’s recommendation to the Commission before the exam.
PSC warned that any banned items found inside the hall will be seized. The candidate’s application will also be cancelled under the BCS recruitment rules. The person may also face a ban from future PSC recruitment tests. Legal action may also apply under the Bangladesh Public Service Commission Act, 2023.
According to PSC, compulsory written exams will run from April 9 to April 23. Subject-based written exams will start on April 27 and end on May 7. PSC is expected to monitor the process closely.
