The government has issued 10 key instructions to ensure fair and cheating-free SSC and equivalent examinations starting April 21 across Bangladesh. The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) announced the measures in an official notice on January 28.
The notice was signed by Professor B. M. Abdul Hannan, Director General (in charge) of DSHE. The directives apply to all examination centres and education officials involved in conducting the exams.
Authorities said a zero-tolerance policy will be enforced to prevent any irregularities. Centre authorities must follow the rules strictly to maintain a fair environment.
The 10 instructions are:
- CCTV cameras must be installed in every selected examination centre and in each examination room.
- Centres with damaged or inactive CCTV systems must repair them before the examinations begin.
- All CCTV video footage must be preserved and submitted if higher authorities ask for it.
- An analog wall clock must be placed in every examination room.
- Centre authorities must ensure adequate security in consultation with the local administration.
- Only the centre secretary may use a mobile phone inside the centre. Teachers and students are not allowed to use phones.
- Authorities must take effective steps to prevent any form of cheating or unfair practice.
- Students must be searched before entering the examination centre. Female students must be searched by female teachers.
- Important instructions for students and guardians must be displayed at the main gate of each centre.
- Centres must ensure cleanliness and provide adequate lighting and ventilation. Centre secretaries must also follow all education board guidelines.
Officials say these steps are necessary because the SSC examinations involve a large number of students every year. A fair examination system helps ensure equal opportunities for all candidates.
