On the second day of the SSC and equivalent exams, nearly 27,000 students were absent across Bangladesh. A total of 19 examinees were expelled for adopting illegal means. The figures come from the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee. The report was published on Thursday on the Dhaka Education Board website.

The Bangla Second Paper exam took place under nine general education boards. In this exam, six students were expelled. Two were from Cumilla, two from Jashore, and one each from Chattogram and Dinajpur.

A total of 1,118,764 candidates were registered for the Bangla Second Paper. Among them, 1,106,448 students attended the exam. However, 12,316 candidates were absent.

Under the Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board, the Dakhil Arabic First Paper exam was held at 741 centres. There were 253,882 registered candidates. Of them, 241,732 were present, while 12,150 were absent. Three examinees were expelled during this exam.

The Bangladesh Technical Education Board also reported absences. A total of 2,399 candidates did not attend the SSC (Vocational) and related exams. These exams were held at 653 centres. For the English Second Paper subject, 120,160 candidates were registered. Among them, 117,761 students took part.

No expulsions were reported under the Technical Board on the first day. However, 10 candidates were expelled on the second day for adopting illegal means.

On the first day of the exams, only six students were expelled nationwide. This means expulsions on the second day were more than three times higher. Absentee numbers also increased compared to the first day.

Education officials are monitoring the situation closely. Further updates are expected as the examinations continue in the coming days.
