The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Biology exam is being held today, Wednesday, as the final exam of this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations in Bangladesh.
The exam started at 10 am and will continue until 1 pm. According to the SSC routine, students from the Science Group are sitting for the Biology exam, while Humanities Group students are taking the Economics exam.
At the time of writing, the multiple-choice question (MCQ) section had already ended. The MCQ part was held from 10 am to 10:30 am.
Under the current syllabus, the Biology subject carries a total of 100 marks. Of these, 75 marks are allocated for the written examination and 25 marks for the practical test. Read SSC Practical Routine 2026
The written section includes 25 marks for MCQs and 50 marks for descriptive answers. The descriptive section is divided into two parts. Students answer four creative questions worth 40 marks and five short questions worth 10 marks.
This year, a total of 1,857,344 candidates registered for the SSC and equivalent examinations across the country.
Among them, 1,418,398 students are under the nine general education boards. The Madrasa Education Board has 304,286 candidates, while the Technical Education Board has 134,660 candidates.
The participation of male and female students remains nearly equal this year. Of the total candidates, 930,305 are male and 927,039 are female.
The Dhaka Education Board has the highest number of examinees among all boards. A total of 366,650 students are taking part in the examinations under the board. Of them, 169,939 are male, and 196,711 are female.
The Dhaka board is conducting the examinations through 510 exam centres and 3,441 participating institutions.
With today’s Biology and Economics examinations, the written phase of this year’s SSC examinations is set to conclude nationwide.
