More than 14,000 teachers recruited for government primary schools may join their posts by next October, according to sources from the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and the Directorate of Primary Education.
Officials said a roadmap for the joining process may be prepared after Eid-ul-Azha once the evaluation module for assistant teachers is finalized. Around 14,500 selected candidates are expected to receive training through Primary Teachers’ Training Institutes (PTIs) before joining.
Sources said the training module is likely to be finalized within June. Training activities may then begin in July.
According to officials, the training may continue for two to three months. If the programme ends within two months, teachers may join in September. If it continues for three months, the joining process could be delayed until October.
Officials also said only candidates who pass the final evaluation after training will be allowed to join government primary schools.

Several officials from the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and the Directorate of Primary Education declined to speak on record about the matter. However, one official, speaking anonymously, said the process still depends on final approval of the module and the training schedule.
“Nothing is certain until the module is finalized and the training date is announced. However, we hope that the process of teachers joining can be completed by next October,” the official said.
Director General of the National Academy for Primary Education (NAPE) Farid Ahmad said the training module has already been prepared.
“The training module for the new teachers is completely ready. Once the ministry calls a meeting after the Eid-ul-Azha holidays, we will submit the module. Then they will finalize it,” he told the media.
The recruitment process for assistant teachers began earlier this year. The written MCQ examination was held on January 9 in 61 districts across the country, excluding the three hill districts. A total of 69,265 candidates qualified for the oral examination.
Final recruitment results were published on February 8. In total, 14,384 candidates were initially selected for appointment as assistant teachers in government primary schools.
Despite completing written and oral examinations and receiving final recommendations, the selected candidates have not yet been able to join their posts. The delay created uncertainty among the recommended teachers, many of whom staged protests in the capital at the end of April.
Following the protests, Education and Primary and Mass Education Adviser Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon said the teachers would be appointed after completing their training.
